Privacy
Saidling collects nothing. Your moments, recordings, photos and videos stay on your own iPhone. There is no account, no Saidling server, no advertising and nothing that tracks you. We, the makers, never get to see your moments.

What stays on your iPhone
Everything you keep in Saidling: the moments with their titles, the written-out story, the recording, photos and videos, the names and birth dates of your children, places, and the people you are paired with. Writing out your recording and suggesting a title happen on your iPhone itself, using the speech recognition and Apple Intelligence on your device.
What the app asks for, and why
- Microphone: to record a moment.
- Camera: to take a photo or video for a moment, and to scan another person’s pairing code.
- Add photos: to also keep the photos and videos you make in Saidling in your photo library. Saidling cannot search your photo library; you choose which photos you add.
- Location: only when you take a photo or video in the app, or when you ask for your location yourself.
You can refuse any permission or withdraw it later in Settings on your iPhone. Saidling keeps working, just without that part.
What goes to Apple
Saidling uses a few Apple services. What is sent to Apple for those is covered by Apple’s privacy policy.
- Apple Maps: to attach a place name to a moment. When you search for a place, your search term goes to Apple. If the first photo or video of a moment has a location, or you take it in the app, Saidling asks Apple for the place name at those coordinates.
- App Store: purchases and the subscription run through Apple. We do not see names or payment details, only the sales figures Apple gives every developer.
- Language models: your iPhone can download the speech recognition and Apple Intelligence models from Apple. Your recordings are not sent along.
- iPhone Backup and iCloud Photos: if iCloud Backup is on, Saidling is part of the backup of your iPhone. Photos that Saidling saves to your photo library follow your iCloud Photos settings. You set that yourself, in Settings on your iPhone.
Sending moments and pairing
You can send moments to people you are paired with, such as grandparents or the other parent. This goes through the app you choose, such as Messages or WhatsApp. Saidling has no server of its own for it.
- A sent moment is encrypted. Only the people you send it to can open it; we and the messaging app cannot.
- When you send, you choose yourself whether the place goes along.
- To pair, you share a pairing link or have a QR code scanned. It contains the name you use in Saidling and a public key. Share it only with people you want to pair with.
- A pairing link starts with saidling.app/k. The part with your code comes after the # sign; your browser never sends that part to our website.
Export
With Export all moments you make a copy of all your moments, to keep wherever you like. With a passphrase the export is encrypted, and only you can open it; we cannot. Without a passphrase, anyone who has the file can read it. Exporting is always free.
Report a problem
Saidling keeps a log on your iPhone of what the app did, such as counts, start times, error messages and the reports iOS makes about the app. Your moments themselves are not in it. The log leaves your iPhone only when you tap share yourself under Report a problem and choose where it goes.
If you email us
If you email us, we keep your message and your email address to help you, for twelve months at most. We do this because you asked us for help; we have a legitimate interest in being able to reply. If you ask us to delete them sooner, we will. Email sent to support@saidling.app arrives via Cloudflare and is forwarded to our mailbox.
This website
This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no fonts or scripts from others. Cloudflare hosts the site and processes your IP address for that, to deliver the page and to protect it against misuse. If a page fails to load, your browser may send Cloudflare a technical report about it, including your IP address and the page address; Cloudflare uses it to find problems in its network.
Cloudflare and Apple are American companies. They may also process data outside the European Union, under the safeguards that European rules require for this.
Children
Saidling is made for parents and carers. What you keep about your children stays on your own iPhone and never reaches us.
Your rights
Because we do not have your moments, there is nothing for us to show or delete; you do that in the app itself. About your email with us, you can always ask us what we hold, or ask us to delete it. If you disagree with how we handle your data, you can lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).

If anything changes in this policy, it will be posted here, with a new date at the top.
